Glossary

Domain:

The set of input values in a relation. In the xy-coordinate plane, these are the x values defined by the given function.

Function:

A mathematical relationship in which one element from one set (called the domain) maps to another set (called the range), and assigns to each element of the domain exactly one element of the range.

Number Systems:

Classification, naming and representing sets of numbers.

Piecewise Function:

Functions that behave differently (linearly, quadratically, or exponentially) based on the input (x) value.

Step Function:

A function that increases or decreases with constant pieces.
