Glossary

Regression Analysis:

Determines how well the curve fits the data by averaging how far each data point is from the estimated curve by analyzing the correlation coefficient and/or the coefficient of determination.

Correlation Coefficient:

A measure of how well the regression line represents the data. It represents the percent of the data that is the closest to the regression curve (or curve of best fit).

Curve Fitting:

The process of determining the equation of a function that best fits the data given.

Coefficient of Determination:

Compares how well the dependent variable is predicted from the independent variable in the regression equation.

Extrapolate:

Find data values outside the given set of data points.

Interpolate:

Find data values outside the given set of data points.
